About
I’m an Australian-based rope artist, educator, and performer passionate about connection, creativity, and personal growth through the art of rope.
A Journey Through Rope
I’m an Australian based rope artist, educator and performer with experience being in rope, self-tying and tying others. I was initially drawn to rope for the connection it can foster, but quickly realised it could be used for so much more. Its uses in artistry, creativity, personal growth and discipline have changed my life.
Living with multiple disabilities meant a lot of existing education about rope didn’t empower me to tie and be tied in a way that was supportive of my abilities. My journey has led me to explore better ways of tying for all different types of bodies and think outside the box when it comes to what is possible.
Now, I work to make rope more accessible, inclusive and enjoyable for others. With a background in psychology and trauma-informed care, I use my expertise to create a space for teaching and tying where feeling safe and celebrated are the priorities.
What is Shibari?
Shibari is a way of using rope that mixes technical rope tying with the intention of connection to create art and foster play in many different forms.
Although its roots are in physical restraint, many engage with rope in ways that are purely artistic, creative or platonic. Others are drawn to it for its more sensual, BDSM and energetic elements, but there truly isn’t a ‘one size fits all’ approach when it comes to shibari.
There is no right or wrong reason to be drawn to rope. As long as you have curiosity, through exploration and discovery you’ll find the version of it that best suits your interests.
Mission
When I entered the world of shibari, I quickly realised there was a gap between what is taught and accessible to what is actually required for people to explore rope intentionally, safely and with confidence.
We all exist as individuals, so why would the same approach work for each one of us?
My goal is to help people find the version of shibari that best suits their interests and needs, while also providing the education and information they need to practise safely.
Whether you’re seeking somatic therapy, an aerial athlete looking to branch out, or a couple wanting to spice things up and try something new, this is the place for you!
Philosophy
My philosophy is based on inclusivity, creativity, connection and wellbeing. Everyone deserves to engage with rope, even when that requires accommodations or creativity and patience to find the best fit.
Rope requires trust, respect, care and safety. If those aren’t present, there’s more to do before you start tying or being tied.
