A Journey Through Rope
I’m an Australian based rope artist, educator and performer with experience being in rope, self-tying and tying others. I was initially drawn to rope for the connection it can foster, but now its uses in artistry, creativity, personal growth and discipline have changed my life.
Living with multiple disabilities meant a lot of existing education about rope didn’t empower me to tie and be tied in a way that was supportive of my abilities. My journey has led me to explore better ways of tying and teaching for all different types of bodies, and to think outside the box when it comes to what is possible.
On my journey I’ve completed a Bachelor in Psychology and learnt from multiple schoolings of rope, each with different philosophies and approaches.
Now I take what I’ve learnt from each, mixing aspects from different styles to create the right fit for each individual and create a space where feeling safe and celebrated are the priorities and aiming to make rope more accessible, inclusive and enjoyable for others
What is Shibari?
Shibari is the Japanese art of using rope to create patterns, harnesses, and sculptural forms with the human body. Rooted in tradition yet evolving through modern expression, it blends technique, intention, and visual beauty into a unique and immersive practice.
More than just form, shibari is explored for creativity, connection, challenge, and personal expression. Whether approached as an art, a mindful practice, or a shared experience, it offers space for exploration, connection and discovery—inviting each person to create something meaningful in their own way.
Although its roots are in physical restraint, many engage with rope in ways that are purely artistic, creative or platonic. Others are drawn to it for its more sensual, BDSM and energetic and playful elements, but there truly isn’t a ‘one size fits all’ approach when it comes to shibari.
With such variety there is no right or wrong reason to be drawn to rope. As long as you have curiosity, through exploration and discovery you’ll find the version of it that best suits your interests.
My Mission
When I entered the world of shibari, I quickly realised there was a gap between what is taught and accessible to what is actually required for people to explore rope intentionally, safely and with confidence.
We all exist as individuals, so why would the same approach work for each one of us?
My goal is to help people find the version of shibari that best suits their interests and needs, while also providing the education and information they need to practise safely.
Whether you’re seeking somatic therapy, an aerial athlete looking to branch out, or a couple wanting to spice things up and try something new, this is the place for you!
Philosophy
My philosophy is based on inclusivity, creativity, connection and wellbeing. Everyone deserves to engage with rope, even when that requires accommodations or creativity and patience to find the best fit.
Rope requires trust, respect, care and safety. If those aren’t present, there’s more to do before you start tying or being tied.
